Who is LOLA?
LOLA stands for Liberation for One, Liberation for All and is an organization that was formed as a response to the concurrent genocides occurring in Palestine, Congo, and Sudan.
What does LOLA do/has done?
Memorial Rally and march on December 9th, during the Christmas Tree Lighting in Downtown Buffalo.
Ceasefire Resolution that went before Buffalo’s Common Council in May. LOLA members met with Councilmembers to discuss the Ceasefire Resolution and spoke in support of it in the Council Chambers along with members of Jewish Voices for Peace and Our City Action Buffalo.
Supported the No New Jails Campaign headed by Black Love Resists in the Rust.
Currently, we are spreading awareness about Buffalo’s Cop City, or the city’s proposal to build a new police training facility in downtown Buffalo.
What are LOLA’s goals?
Generally, to create a space where people from the global majority and allies can learn about and take political action to address the consequences of white supremacy, colonialism and capitalism. Rooted in internationalism and intersectionality, our focus is in exploring and connecting the various liberation movements globally.
We have to start locally! We want to bring communities in Buffalo together with the common goal of making Buffalo a better place. Our hope is to foster an environment where people of all ethnicities, nationalities and identities understand and respect one another and care about the issues we face collectively. We do this through teach-ins, political action, and encouraging folks to find and utilize their skills for the greater good.
